Ubiquinol may improve symptoms in children with autism
Researchers at Comenius University and Purdue University recruited 24 children aged 3 to 6 diagnosed with autism according to the DSM IV criteria, into their study. Oxidative stress (antioxidants are the antidote to this) and poor energy production are thought to be part of autism. The children were supplemented with Ubiquinol at a daily dosage of 50mg twice a day for three months.
With Ubiquinol supplementation communication between the child and the parents improved in 12% of the children. Verbal communication improved in 21% of the children. Playing children’s games in 42%, sleep improved in 34%, and food rejection decreased in 17% if the CoQ10-Total plasma level reached above 2.5 µmol/L. The study is published in the journal Oxidative Medicine and Cellular Longevity.
