The memory supplement Phosphatidylserine benefits very stressed men
Phosphatidylserine (PS) is a very important memory and mental health supplement. In a number of studies it reduces feelings of stress and reduces the concentration of stress hormones (cortisol). In this cooperative study from researchers in Germany, Switzerland and Israel, 75 highly stressed men were supplemented with 400mg of PS along with phosphatidic acid or placebo daily for a 42-day period. Phosphatidic acid is simply the precursor to PS. In a stressful situation PS significantly reduced cortisol in both saliva and blood serum and reduced the acute stress response in chronically highly-stressed men. The study is published in July 31st, 2014 issue of Lipids in Health and Disease.
