In this study rats were split into 3 groups - one group had nothing done to it, the second group was injected with a chemical that causes severe acute pancreatitis, and the third group also received the toxic injection but was first treated with resveratrol. Damage to the pancreas increased after the injection and so did serum amylase, and the level of malondialdehyde and myeloperoxidase in the pancreas while the level of protective Superoxide Dismutase fell. However pre-treating with Resveratrol decreased lipid peroxidation in the pancreas, lowered serum amylase, there were less severe pancreatic lesions, less infiltration of immune cells within the pancreas, and normal levels of malondialdehyde in the pancreas.

Reishi Mushroom extract was screened for its anti-proliferative activity using 26 human cancer cell lines. It was found that Reishi Mushroom inhibited the life cycle of the cancer cells especially right before or during there division into new cancer cells. In checking for the ability to kill the cancer cells it was found that Reishi caused the destruction of the myeloma (U937 cells, RPM18226 cells), leukemia (HL-60), and lymphoma (Blin-1 cells) cells assessed for this from 21% to 92%.

Inflammation is the most frequent characteristic of autoimmune diseases. Products made by the immune system that stimulate inflammation (pro-inflammatory cytokines) increase in number and volume and are causative of major damage to the affected organ(s). These researchers are soon publishing studies that demonstrate that supplementing animals with Perna Canaliculus prevents the development of autoimmune diseases such as Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and rheumatoid arthritis.

Previous studies have demonstrated the anticancer effects of Pomegranate Extract and Genistein on cell lines from different cancers. Human breast cancer cell lines were exposed to both Pomegranate Extract and Genistein for 24 hours. Both Pomegranate Extract and Genistein significantly inhibited the growth of breast cancer cells.
