Passionflower is helpful for anxiety

April 16, 2007

In two studies that included 198 participants with anxiety, patients were given either Passion Flower or a benzodiazepine drug. Drugs in the benzodiazepine family include Valium, Librium, and Xanax. It was found that the activity of Passionflower was similar to the drugs in regards to alleviating anxiety, but predictably caused less drowsiness. The analysis is published on-line in the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, January, 24th, 2007.
