ATP Hx®

ATP, Adenosine Triphosphate, is the source of more than 95% of the energy the body uses daily. During exercise or intense physical activity, in supplement form, ATP may extend and elevate the level of maximum strength and endurance, enhancing physical performance. ATP may add to the benefits of exercise for increasing muscle mass and strength and supports the health of overworked muscles. In casual athletes, ATP may enhance the level of benefit from the allotted time devoted to exercise and may enhance the effects of physical therapy.†

The Science Behind The Ingredients In ATP Hx

Research from Nutrients explains how ATP generation may help to provide energy and help improve cognitive function. The metabolic agents, glucose, oxygen, pyruvate, creatine, and L-carnitine have beneficial effects on cognitive function. These agents are directly responsible for generating ATP (adenosine triphosphate) the main cellular currency of energy. The brain is the most metabolically active organ in the body and as such is particularly vulnerable to disruption of energy resources. Therefore interventions that sustain adenosine triphosphate (ATP) levels may have importance for improving brain health and function. [1]

Research published in the Journal of the International Society of Sports and Nutrition states that supplementation with ATP may help to improve exercise performance, energy output and endurance during strenuous exercise. For human performance, the energy liberated by ATP hydrolysis for muscle contraction is of great importance. Skeletal muscle concentrations of ATP are relatively limited, so ATP must be continually resynthesized. It is hypothesized that any nutritional supplementation that could increase ATP concentrations could also enhance performance during high-intensity exercise. [2]

Research from Frontiers in Physiology explains how ATP contributes to proper blood flow oxygen levels and energy output during strenuous exercise. ATP supplementation allows for this process to be enhanced in humans. During exercise the cardiovascular system has to contribute a good supply of nutrients and oxygen to working muscles. The main function of red blood cells in exercise is the transport of oxygen from the lungs to the tissues and the delivery of metabolically produced CO2 to the lungs for expiration. Hemoglobin also contributes to the blood's buffering capacity, and ATP and Nitric oxide release from red blood cells contributes to vasodilation and improved blood flow to working muscles. These functions require adequate amounts of red blood cells in circulation. ATP increases through supplementation helps this process in humans during strenuous exercise. [3]
