The Science Behind Vitamin B12
Research from Canadian Family Physician states that supplementation with vitamin B12 helps to protect the heart, arteries and the brain. Vitamin B12 also helps to increase the nutritional value of folate. 
Research published in the Medicine Journal of Baltimore revealed that vitamin B12 helps to protect the brain and brain function such as memory. Low levels of vitamin B12 in the elderly were linked to a decline in cognitive ability as opposed to higher levels after supplementation. 
Research from the Central European Journal of Immunology states that supplementation with vitamin B12 helped to offset the negative consequences of malnutrition, especially lack of protein. Supplementation helps to promote immune function by supporting the formation of healthy white blood cells as well as red blood cells that carry oxygen to the tissues.
