L-Lysine Supplement

L-Lysine is an essential amino acid needed to create Creatine, which is used by the body to make energy out of calories. L-Lysine plays an important role in the formation of Collagen, which is important for the joints, hair, skin and nails. It may support muscle health after exercise and may be beneficial for people who consume excessive amounts of the amino acid L-Arginine and are prone to lip sores. L-Lysine may improve the absorption of calcium.†
Low consumption of Lysine from food sources may result in a deficiency, which may lead to symptoms of compromised immunity, as well as heightened stress levels.†

The Science Behind L-Lysine

Research from Amino Acids found that supplementation with L-Lysine may well be a strategy for helping cartilage regeneration by enhancing collagen synthesis, which could contribute to the support of healthy connective tissues and joint health. [1]

Research published in the Journal of International Society of Sports Nutrition found that supplementation with L-Lysine helped human subjects recover faster and combat inflammation associated with oxidative stress after bouts of strenuous exercise. L-Lysine supplementation was found to help reduce the chances of higher levels of oxidative stress, muscle fatigue and muscle injury. Also, during the recovery period, impaired immunity has been reported, for example; excessive-inflammation and compensatory immunosuppression.  L-Lysine supplementation was found to support the immune system. [2]

Evidence from Biomedical Research shows that supplementation with a combination of L-lysine and L-arginine has been documented to support hormonal stress responses. [3

A study from Drugs under Experimental Research concluded that supplementation with L-Lysine helped to support immune function partly due to its ability to decrease inflammatory cytokine production that contributes to chronic inflammatory conditions. [4]
