The Science Behind The Ingredients In White TEAth Gel

Research from the Dental Research Journal states that white tea consumption contributes to oral health in humans. White tea consists of mainly fluoride, tannins and flavonoids. The bioavailability of fluoride from tea has been demonstrated to be around 34%, which would be effective in strengthening the mineral content of teeth. Tannins help to protect against salivary amylase so that it reduces the damages from starch-containing foods. Flavonoids and different polyphenols, especially catechins, have shown to support against the growth of plaque bacteria. Catechins are at a higher level in white tea. The antioxidant property of white tea because of polyphenols has shown considerable potential to contribute to overall oral health. [1]

Research from the Journal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research states that supplementing with oral CoQ10 helps to support the gums and overall oral health in humans. CoQ10 has shown to be a protective agent for oxidative stress and inflammation as a result of negative immune responses to the overgrowth of harmful bacteria that causes gingivitis in humans. [2]

Research from Nutrients states that zinc is an essential mineral for the health of the mouth. Zinc is a trace element of valuable importance. In the oral cavity, it is naturally present at various sites such as dental plaque, dental hard tissues and saliva. It is proven to be effective as an oral health support agent, especially for the teeth and gums. It has been implicated in the promotion of overall oral health due to its properties for enhancing immunity, as well as its effects on cell division and skeletal development. Zinc supplementation has been seen to help with the formation and structure of teeth and also to support health, fresh breath. [3]

Research presented in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health states that supplementation with vitamin C contributes to the health of the teeth and gums. It is a potent free radical scavenger and also fights against inflammation in the gums. Higher levels of vitamin C were directly linked with healthier gums and teeth in humans. [4]
