Biomega Supplement

Fish oils have well-known benefits for supporting brain and heart health, due to their content of fatty acids known as EPA and DHA (also referred to as omega-3 fatty acids). Omega-3 fatty acids are considered essential, as the body does not produce them. They are helpful in supporting memory function, a good mood, stress relief and overall brain health. They also support healthy blood pressure already within a normal range.†

Important Components of biomega

Enteric Coating protects the oils from harsh intestinal enzymes and stomach acids, which otherwise can deactivate these nutrients, while also protecting the delicate content from oxygen which helps maintain freshness. This allows for the ingredients to be released further down the digestive tract in the colon so the oils are absorbed intact and not damaged. This helps to prevent fish burps.†

The Science Behind Biomega

Research published in Nutrients states that supplementation with omega 3 fat like fish oil which contains DHA and EPA helps to support brain health and function. It has been found that observational studies showed that >1 g/day docosahexaenoic acid/eicosapentaenoic acid (DHA/EPA) significantly improved memory in older adults with a history of mild memory complaints. [1]

Research from Advances in Nutrition states that supplementation with fish oil helps in early development, heart and brain health. Fish-derived omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA have been linked with fetal development, cardiovascular function, and brain health. However, because our bodies do not efficiently produce some omega-3 fatty acids from marine sources, it is necessary to get the necessary amounts through fish and fish-oil products. Studies have shown that EPA and DHA are important for proper fetal development, including neuronal, retinal, and immune function. EPA and DHA may affect many aspects of cardiovascular function including inflammation and artery health. [2]

Research from nutrients states that vitamin E supplementation may help to support brain health and function as we age. Vitamin E is an important antioxidant that protects cells from damage associated with oxidative stress caused by free radicals. The brain is highly susceptible to oxidative stress, which increases during ageing. High plasma vitamin E levels are associated with better cognitive performance. [3]

Research published in the Sultan Qaboos University Medical Journal explains how vitamin E supplementation helps to support and protect the heart. Vitamin E is the major lipid-soluble part in the cell antioxidant defense system and is only obtained from the diet. It has numerous important roles within the body because of its antioxidant activity. Vitamin E supplementation was found to help to reduce the production of prostaglandins such as thromboxane, which cause platelet clumping. Supplementing with vitamin E may help to support healthy blood pressure already within normal range. [4]
