Macula Advanced Hx®
Macula Hx® Advanced supports vision health with results you can clearly see! This is a powerful mixture of carotenoids, vitamins, minerals and berry extracts to support healthy vision.Cassis and Bilberry Fruit Extracts, along with several easily absorbable nutrients, offer superior protection for aging eyes.†
As we age, the pool of available nutrients decreases, exposing the eyes to the harmful impact of free radicals. As a natural reaction to protect itself, the eye is very selective in what it allows inside the cells. The activity of vision production alone releases a large volume of free radicals that can contribute to ocular aging. Many scientific studies have shown the benefits of Lutein and Zeaxanthin for eye health. N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine (NAC) has also been studied for its eye health benefit, as it creates Glutathione. Macula Hx also helps to support night vision and may play a role in reducing age-related macular degeneration, due to its high Vitamin C and Bilberry content. This formula may help to benefit every part of the eye, including the macula, retina, cornea, lens, aqueous humor, vitreous, and retinal blood vessels.†

The Science Behind The Ingredients in Macula Hx® Advanced
Lutemax® 2020 is a naturally-derived marigold extract providing all three macular carotenoids-lutein and enhanced levels of both zeaxanthin isomers. The dramatic rise in the use of smartphones, tablets, and laptop computers over the past decade has raised concerns about potentially deleterious health effects of increased “screen time”and associated short-wavelength (blue) light exposure. This study published in Foods found that six months of supplementation with Lutein and Zeaxanthin isomers (Lutemax® 2020) reduced inflammation and oxidative stress thereby helping to improve sleep quality, visual performance and improved stress indicators from excessive, artificial blue light exposure in the participants. [1]
Research published in Nutrients states that carotenoids such as Lutein and zeaxanthin in humans and mammals are derived from their diet because they are unable to synthesize carotenoids. Carotenoids are nutrients widely distributed in foods, especially in fruit and vegetables, and appear to have antioxidant properties as well as anti-inflammatory. Lutein and zeaxanthin both act as a protection support of the retina from phototoxic light damage. [2]
