Hyaluronic Acid Supplement w/ Devils Claw

Hyaluronic acid is a widely occurring substance in connective, skin, and neural tissues and is a substantial component of the synovial fluid that cushions the joint. The body’s natural supply of Hyaluronic acid becomes depleted through normal wear-and-tear on the body. Devils Claw is a shrub from the southern regions of Africa that has been studied for its support for physical comfort of the joints, back, neck, fingers and nervous system. These two nutrients combine synergistically to help with a variety of joint, neural and connective tissue needs.†

Hyaluronic acid is a molecule that occurs naturally in the skin and helps to bind water to Collagen, supporting healthy hydration of the skin by locking in moisture.†

The Science Behind Hyaluronic Acid and Devils Claw

Research from Interdisciplinary Toxicology reports on the vital, functional role of Hyaluronic acid in joints of humans. The principal role of synovial fluid is to reduce friction between cartilages of synovial joints during movement. The presence of Hyaluronic acid in this fluid gives it the required viscosity for its function as lubricant solution. [1]

Advances in Food and Nutrition Research states that Hyaluronic acid plays a key role in cushioning and lubricating the body and is abundant in the eyes, joints, and heart valves. It is also a powerful antioxidant, and is perhaps best known for its ability to bond water to tissue. [2]

A study from Joint Orthopedic Research states that Harpagoside, one of the bioactive components of Devil’s Claw (Harpagophytum procumbens), has been shown to possess anti-inflammatory properties. The research states that Devil’s Claw may be effective at supporting healthy inflammatory processes in the body which, when unbalanced, can contribute to the breakdown of cartilage and synovial fluid in joints. About 25yrs ago my right knee was injured by a slipping skiing incident. For the past several years I have taken glucosamine and it help alleviate pain in the knee quite successfully. When I was without the glucosamine at one point my knee really started to hurt. I was having trouble going down the stairs. At this point, , I started taking the Hyaluronic Acid (which my Dr said was not worth it) almost immediately, all pain was gone and I can kneel on hard surfaces for yoga, gardening, cleaning up its fantastic!

I had a terrible neck pain and for 5 years nothing helped. I found out about the HA and within 2 weeks of using it my pain was almost gone. I don’t know what I would have done without it. Nothing else worked.
