Gastroesophageal reflux disease(GERD) with or without distal erosive esophagitis is the most frequent cause of epigastric distress, particularly heartburn type symptoms which occur after meals. When brought into contact with gastric acid, Refluxin forms a foamy emollient and antacid layer(raft) which floats on top of gastric contents.* When reflux occurs, the lower esophagus is bathed in mildly alkaline mucoprotective coating which forms a physical and neutralizing barrier against irritating gastric fluids.
