Green Tea Extract

Green Tea extract, derived from the Camellia sinensis plant, contains a very high concentration of antioxidants and provides excellent antioxidant benefits for the entire body. Its major active compound called EGCG, or Epigallocatechin Gallate, gives Green tea its health-promoting and protective properties. EGCG has been studied for its ability to increase fat oxidation, which contributes to a lean body mass. Green Tea extract, with the addition of Vitamin C, provides cellular antioxidant protection and may help improve energy and endurance.†
Green tea offers additional benefit for healthy circulation to the heart and brain, supports immune and respiratory health, the health of the skin and healthy bacteria in the digestive tract.†

The Science Behind Green Tea

Research from Current Pharmacology states that Green tea consumption has been shown to be useful for cardiovascular and metabolic health. Various studies suggest that polyphenolic compounds present in green and black tea are responsible for this. In addition, anti-aging, cellular health and many other health beneficial effects associated with tea consumption. [1]

Research published in Chinese Medicine revealed that regular green tea consumption has proven to provide numerous health benefits to humans such as anti-aging, cardiovascular and general health promotion. Evidence is accumulating that catechins and theaflavins, which are the main polyphenolic compounds of green and black tea, respectively, are responsible for most of the physiological effects of tea. [2]

Research published in Molecules summarizes experimental studies have reported tea catechins health and immune supportive abilities. [3]

Research from Plos One showed how Polyphenols extracted from green tea have anti-viral activity and immune supportive benefits by helping the body to block viral infections from entering and replicating healthy immune cells. Here, three different theaflavins which are major polyphenols from black tea, were identified to possess these abilities. The results showed that all theaflavins help to inhibit viral infection in a dose-dependent manner in an early step of infection. [4]
