The Science Behind Natural Baby Shampoo & Conditioner

Research published in Molecules explains why green tea extract is extremely beneficial inside cosmeceutical products for the skin and hair. Green tea extract acts as an antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, hair strengthening, and photo-protective. Products containing tea extracts rich in polyphenols have a positive effect on the skin and hair appearance as well as strength and structure. The antioxidant properties of green tea extract helps to protect skin and hair from damage and lipid peroxidation following UV exposure. Tea contains epigallocatechin gallate (EGCGs) and various catechins. [1]

Research from the Molecular Medical Reports states that chamomile is an effective herbal supplement for soothing and relaxing purposes as well as an antioxidant/anti-inflammatory. It is also known to be used as a bath additive, recommended for soothing inflammation. Inhalation of the vaporized essential oils derived from chamomile flowers is recommended to relieve tension and nervousness and to support healthy sleep. Chamomile oil is a popular ingredient of aromatherapy and hair care. Roman chamomile is widely used in cosmetic preparations and in soothing and softening effect on the skin. Traditionally, chamomile has been used for centuries as an anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, mild astringent. [2]

Research from Herbal Medicine states that aloe vera is an effective ingredient in hair and skin care products as it acts to soothe mucus membranes and acts as an anti-inflammatory. The Aloe vera plant was officially listed as a skin protectant by the U.S. pharmacopoeia in 1820 and was clinically used in the 1930s for supporting the health of the skin and mucous membranes as well as a nourishment for the hair.
