Alpha-Lipoic Acid
The antioxidant Alpha-Lipoic Acid is known as the "Universal Antioxidant" because it is both fatty and water-soluble and because it boosts Glutathione levels in the body. It is made by the body and found in every one of our cells. Unfortunately, Alpha-Lipoic acid activity decreases with age. This is a key nutrient for creating energy out of the calories you eat, functioning with at least two key enzymes needed for energy production. All of the energy required in your body requires Alpha-Lipoic Acid activity.†
Alpha-Lipoic Acid helps to defend against free radical damage, as it regenerates other antioxidants including Vitamin C, Vitamin E and Glutathione. It may also support blood sugar already within a normal range.†

The Science Behind Alpha-Lipoic-Acid
Research published in Free Radical Biology and Medicine concludes that supplementation with Alpha-Lipoic-Acid offers liver health, cellular health and metabolism support. The study found that ALA has the ability to alter the reactive oxygen status of cells and to interact with antioxidants. This compound has proven to have important therapeutic potential in cases of oxidative stress. [1]
A review published in Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) looked at the therapeutic benefits of ALA supplementation. It is well-defined in the support for scavenging free radicals, is a metal chelator and acts as a restorative agent of glutathione levels that decline with age. ALA supplementation was proven as an antioxidant support and also shown to improve glucose function already within normal range, function and use of vitamin C and the support of Phase II detoxification. ALA is a necessary cofactor for mitochondrial functions and it serves a critical role in mitochondrial energy metabolism. ALA was found to be absorbed easily from dietary sources and accumulates in various body tissues. It has also proven to go beyond its potent, biological antioxidant status and is able to regenerate other antioxidants including Vitamin C, Vitamin E and Glutathione. [2]
Research published in Nutrition Reviews found supplementation with Alpha-Lipoic-Acid to have both cellular protection and cardiovascular support and support glucose levels already within a normal range.. ALA supplementation has also shown to help the body effectively detoxify heavy metals. The research concludes that this evidence suggests ALA acts by many different mechanisms both physiologically and pharmacologically. The production of ALA decreases with age and in individuals with compromised health conditions. [3]

I had ringing in my ears. I didn’t want to go to the doctor because I didn’t want to be prescribed any antibiotics. I was suggested to take Alpha Lipoic Acid, Ginkgo Biloba and Inflammune Hx®. Within one week all my annoying symptoms were gone. I was amazed and really love the Inflammune Hx®. I also rave to all my friends about the Collagen Hx®, my skin is a lot smoother and even my friends say I glow!
