Here, Jerry speaks about the benefits of collagen…
Our new Collagen is in now stock. We have an upgraded supplement that’s fantastic. We actually got a hold of the collagen that’s used in human clinical trials. It’s a bio company called Rousselot. Rousselot is in Belgium, Spain and France. Recently, they came to the United States and Brazil. They’re the number one manufacturer of collagen in the world. We found Brazil as a source years ago, and the ingredients coming in are extremely clean. They are squeaky clean and very pure and of extremely high quality. Brazil’s herbs that are imported to the United States are the finest herbs in the world.
For instance, we get the acai berry from Brazil. In our Para Hx® formula, so many ingredients are from Brazil. We’ve been getting stuff from Brazil for years now, and it turns out they had the number one collagen in the world that was the exact same collagen they’ve used in human clinical trials. Now, human clinical trials have covered many areas; skin health, wrinkles, bone health and joint health, for example. Dermatologists use it because they give collagen injections into lips. They give collagen rubs for the skin. Dentists use it for the gums. It is used for burn victims. I mean there are literally hundreds of thousands of studies using collagen, because it’s used so frequently. This supplement is used by plastic surgeons in people. It turns out that we received the exact collagen used in the human clinical trials. It’s called the Peptan B 5000HS.
Collagen production in human body decreases with age. This is an important point. By the time you’re 25, your body starts to produce less collagen. Collagen production decreases at a rate of 1.5% per year. By the time you’re 45, that translates to a 30% loss of collagen. By the time you’re 60, you’ve lost more than half of your collagen. That affects your bones, your skin, your hair, your nails, your muscles and your waste. I mean everything; especially your joints. It is perfect for your joints. 90% of the organic mass of your bone is made out of collagen. Your bone is mostly collagen and calcium. That’s what makes your bone. Doctors learn in medical school how important collagen is for the bones, but they don’t learn about collagen supplementation for the bones. So, it’s important that these studies get around. 70% of your skin is made out of collagen and most of the rest is made out of an ingredient in collagen called hyaluronic acid which is a chain of thousands of sugars. In fact, the wrinkles are damaged sugars; they’re called hyaluronic acid. They’ve shown that, when you give collagen to people with wrinkles it helps smooth out the skin.
Approximately two-thirds of the cartilage in your joints is made out of collagen. They did a couple of studies now with the InVite Collagen. These are studies out of France and Japan, and these are with women in their 20s, women in their 50s and women in their 60s. They gave them a spoon of hydrolyzed collagen daily for six weeks and found that their skin became smoother, more flexible and more elastic. Dark spots that occur with age, such as liver spots were going away. It causes less sagginess of the skin. For them, the skin was nicer, it wasn’t as dull and it had a sheen to it. The dryness was reversing itself and it was becoming more hydrated. Now, this is very important for women who have sun-damaged skin. That’s what a wrinkle is. When you have a wrinkle, whether it’s from cigarette smoke or just a lot of cold weather and hot weather and dryness or the sun, the collagen and the sugars on the skin called hyaluronic acid are getting damaged. They’ve shown that when you give women the collagen, you start to fill in the wrinkles, you make the skin more elastic, you make the skin thicker and you improve the tone and the texture. You’re evening it out, even discolorations like liver spots. So, it really has a fantastic effect on the skin.
Let’s talk about bones; 90% of the organic mass of your bone is made out of collagen. This is important because they’ve shown that when they supplement people with hydrolyzed collagen, even within four weeks, it improves bone health. These studies are 24 weeks long though, and show that collagen helps with the bones. What they’ve shown is a couple interesting things. Your bone matrix, the organic part of your bone that looks almost like a spider web, is filled with calcium. That “spider web” is made out of collagen. So, when you take it, you’re laying the groundwork and you’re making the super structure. You’re making the framework for your skin. In other words, if you’re going to build a house, you can’t just put up a roof and a floor. You got to frame out the house. This supplement builds the frame for your bones and then the calcium and the Vitamin D and the other things go in there and strengthen it into bone, solidify it into bone and filling in the holes.
But something else happens. As you get older, your bone-building cells, which are called osteoblasts, don’t last long; they die at a really young age. Osteoclasts, the cells that destroy bone, go on living, though. So, that’s what they’re finding now. In older people, the bone-building cells don’t survive and the cells that dismantle bone, that destroy bone, they thrive, and you get a net loss of bone. So, in younger people, there’s a balance. They’re removing old bone while they’re building new bone. In older people, that doesn’t function properly any more. It’s just the opposite. Instead of building bone they’re just removing bone. They found that when they give older people collagen, it preferentially stimulates the osteoblasts, the cells that build your bone instead of the cells that destroy your bone called osteoclasts, thus, triggering bone building.
Case Western University and the University of Illinois Medical School over in Chicago both reviewed the studies on collagen and said this stuff is absolutely good for joint health, and the worse the joint health is, the better the stuff works. They also said given its importance for bones, it should be used in a bone-building program. So, if you’re on Fosamax, alendronate, any of those drugs that build bone, Evista, etc., just add collagen. It is remarkably important for building bones, and for joints.
Here’s a study from multiple orthopedic centers, a clinical trial on 250 patients. The patient’s knees were not healthy, so they supplemented them with hydrolyzed collagen for six months. This provided a good improvement in knee comfort and increased flexibility. In a different study, when they compared hydrolyzed collagen to glucosamine and chondroitin, it worked three times better than glucosamine and chondroitin. Glucosamine and chondroitin did have an effect; it did help people’s knees and hips, but the collagen worked 300% better. It was much more effective in helping people with their joints.
Hydrolyzed collagen breaks down bonds. It is a very big molecule and so is hyaluronic acid. So, you have to break down the bonds. In this study, they use hydrolyzed collagen which means the hyaluronic acid is smaller, the keratan sulfate, the chondroitin sulfate, and the collagen peptides themselves. It is easier for us to absorb and they are body-ready ingredients. They’re biologic. You don’t have to change or metabolize them in order for them to work. They go right to work for you. So, this is very important.
In your joint, there’s cartilage, hard rubbery substance on the end of the bone so the bones don’t rub together because the bones would not glide smoothly over one another. There would be a lot of friction and you would wear down your bones. So, you have these cartilage end-caps on your bones, this hard rubbery substance, and that has to be maintained. It’s maintained by a thin layer of fluid in the joint called synovial fluid. Now, that synovial fluid has many activities. One, it’s a shock absorber. So, when you take a step, that absorbs the shock from the body weight, and this way, it helps protect your knee health and your joint health, your hip health. So, that’s one thing the fluid does. But the fluid also, the new baby joint cells are born in that fluid. The new baby joint cells are born in that fluid and then, when you bend your knee, they rush into the cartilage end-capped on your bones and they lubricate it andhydrate it, but they also put the new baby cells in there. So, they heal it. They rejuvenate it. They keep it going. So, it’s a very important supplement for the maintenance and the health of your joint and your flexibility and making it easier to walk again, so you can get out there on the golf course or tennis court. So you can take walks and feel comfortable. So you can walk up and down stairs and get out of a chair or lift something. It’s great for your neck, your shoulder, your fingers, your elbow, your hip, your knee; it’s fantastic.
There you go, collagen is real stuff. You could take it for your knee, your hip, your neck, your back, your shoulder, but also for your hair, your nails, your skin, and also for your bones. If you’re on a bone-building regimen, you should be on collagen. It’s the ingredient that people don’t know about yet.
Years ago I shattered my left ankle in a fall. I was told by the orthopedic surgeon I would be in pain, and be walking with a cane for the rest of my life. I had great physical therapy and it helped a lot. Some pain would linger, and I would need to use a cane if I was on my feet a lot. I began using Invite Health's Collagen HX about 4 months ago and noticed that the pain in my ankle was subsiding. Recently, I have seen a scar on my left side become less noticeable and my nails have become stronger and healthier looking. I used to use a "disabled parking permit" and no longer find that necessary because I am pain-free and am able to walk without a cane. I sometimes wonder if I knew of Invite Health products around the time of my accident, my recovery would have been even faster. I am using additional Invite Health products and have been satisfied with how I feel and my visits to the doctor have been better than I can ever recall.
Thank you for making my quality of life and well-being so good with your high quality products, information, and caring Invite Health staff on the radio, in your stores and on the phone. I am grateful and appreciative.

Recently, I have been experiencing similar discomfort in my knee. I have been taking Collagen Hx® for about 2 months now. The knee is much better and when I went for a swim after I haven’t gone for awhile, I noticed that the clicking sound in my shoulders had gone? I tried carefully a couple of push-ups: no pain or discomfort! I look forward to further healing taking your great Collagen Hx®. Thanks INVITE HEALTH!
