Coenzyme Q10 improves dry mouth

June 01, 2011

Dry mouth is thought to be associated with aging. Researchers from Tsurumi University School of Dental Medicine recruited sixty-six patients with dry mouth and split them into three groups. One group received active Coenzyme Q10 (Ubiquinol) at 100mg per day, one group received traditional CoQ10 at 100mg and the third group received sham treatment (placebo); all for one month. Both forms of CoQ10 improved salivary secretion and the improvement was significant. The study is published in the June 2011 issue of the journal Clinical Biochemistry.
