Blueberry Flavonoids improve heart health
in men
According to two studies in healthy men, researchers from the UK and Germany show that consuming a drink rich
in blueberry polyphenols improved flow mediated dilation (FMD) for hours after
consuming the berries. FMD is a measure of the ability of blood vessels to open
(dilate) to accommodate increases in volume of blood flow. Greater FMD is
related to greater vascular health and improved blood pressure readings. The
study is published in the September 4th, 2013 issue of the
American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
