AddingGreen Tea to a meal replacement really boosts weightloss in the obese: a randomized controlled clinical trial

September 16, 2009

Researchers recruited 120 obese men and women for this 12-week clinical trial. The effects of a formula consisting of Green Tea in a meal replacement was compared to a normal but in this case weight loss diet. Those on the Green Tea product lost 15 pounds on average and those on the diet lost 5 pounds on average. The individuals on the Green Tea formulas total cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol was significantly lower at the end of the study than those on the diet and proportionately they had lost far more body fat (7.6% drop in fat mass versus 0.5% drop in dieters). The study appears in the September 2009 issue of the International Journal of Food Sciences and Nutrition.
