We're going to talk about Ubiquinol. That's the most important nutrient you can ever take for energy production. If you're getting sluggish, it brings back energy. Then we're going to talk about ALCAR with ALA. This combination helps you burn fat on your belly. You ignite the fat for energy and it works well with the Ubiquinol, actually. They work in the same system, and it's a one-two punch for providing energy. The beauty of the ALCAR with ALA is that they're very powerful for enhancing memory in an aging person. They're very powerful for protecting the brain as you age. So, let's kick it off.
There is a very interesting new study that came out. It's in a British journal of nutrition, which is a good journal I look at every month. You can look at journals online today. You don't have to wait for them to come in the mail. They took healthy middle-aged men and gave them three different supplements. They gave them a GLA supplement. That's Omega six fats. Omega six fats are super concentrated vegetable fats. They gave them the fish oils, the stuff that you find in fish oil or Krill oil, or they gave them Ubiquinol CoQ10. They brought back their Ubiquinol levels.
These men are already healthy, 504 healthy men in their 40's and 50's. When they gave them fish oils it actually further improved their prostate gland health over a three month period. Their PSA level improved by an additional 30% as well.
PSA is an enzyme in a prostate. It’s an indicator that something is going on, though you’re not sure what. If the PSA goes really high, your doctor, your urologist worries because it means something drastic is happening in the prostate, whether it's temporary or long-term. There's something going on, because the prostate cells are swelling or dying, and they're releasing this enzyme.
These men, when they gave them a fish oil type supplement - so it could be Krill oil, it could be fish oil - their PSA which was already in a healthy area, improved by 30%. If they gave them Ubiquinol, it improved by 33%. It went from 2.5 to 1.68 on average. That's a good finding, because when you see the PSA rising, you start to worry.
Somehow, the fish oil components and the Ubiquinol were protecting the prostates of already healthy men, which is interesting because it raises the question if it can potentially be a shield.
The GLA on the other hand is something you'd get in evening primrose oil. If they gave them high doses of GLA, their PSA actually went up 15%. Frequently, people are told by their nutritionist or whomever to use evening primrose oil or black cumin seed oil. That's okay because it has a preformed version, which is the active form of Omega six fatty acids that you need for immune system function.
The problem is if you do too high a dosage, it promotes inflammation. One of the arts is to balance that with fish oil. The fish oils together with the oils from evening primrose oil or vegetable oils balance immune function, and immune health, so the immune system can do whatever it has to. If you overdo it like what happened in the study, they actually seem to be developing inflammation in their prostate. Beyond that, a study came out in the International Journal of Medical Sciences as well.
I've got to tell you what Ubiquinol is because this is really important: Ubiquinol is the most important nutrient for allowing you to take the calories from food and converting them into energy. That's what they do. Ubiquinol levels drop with age. It's a natural thing, and you have less ability to take the calories from food and burn it as energy. Would you rather have the calories sitting useless on your belly, or would you rather use it for your brain and your heart and your muscles, and your kidneys and everything else? The answer is obvious.
Ubiquinol levels start to drop in your late 20's, and by about the age of 40, it can become clinically important in organs and tissues such as the kidneys, or the heart or the brain, or your hearing apparatus. It can actually have an impact. The beauty of it is, all the research shows that if you take Ubiquinol, you restore activity and you counter-balance that problem.
This issue of having too little Ubiquinol, when does it occur? It depends on the person. For instance, generally, people tend to lose some energy in their late 30's, and more so in their 40's. They certainly start to feel it in their 50's. It's very obvious in the 60's and 70's. If you're sick, if you have a chronic illness like diabetes, it can happen at a much younger age, so it's not unusual for somebody who's 35 or 40 to be low in Ubiquinol.
The human clinical trials show that people with certain disease conditions have trouble manufacturing Ubiquinol in their body. They have regular CoQ10 in their body, but they can't metabolize or convert it into the active version because that takes energy too, and they just don't have the energy. When you look at the data, not only are elderly people very low in Ubiquinol which is the active version of CoQ10, like their heart muscle might have 70 or 80% less Ubiquinol in elderly people. Their livers, their kidneys, their pancreas, all these different organs have less muscle. Of course they're going to suffer with some fatigue or loss of energy. It’s just an inability to create the amount of energy they used to have.
People with certain diseases can experience the same thing. They lose the ability to convert CoQ10 to Ubiquinol, and that's one of the reasons why they're unhealthy. Given these cases, Ubiquinol is a good thing because it restores energy production. When you restore the energy production, you're restoring metabolism.
Restoring metabolism fights off fatigue, allows you to clean up the body and perform all the maintenance and the rebuilding and taking care of health. That's what it comes down to.
Ubiquinol has been studied in many, many different conditions, especially when it comes to the heart. It's been studied very intensively for the heart muscle. It's very good for muscles in general and the heart of course is a muscle that's working basically 80 times per minute. It's pumping blood, so it's working all day. It's working when you're sleeping. There have been many studies on heart health with Ubiquinol. A study just came out, showing that people who have inactive CoQ10 versus active CoQ10, which is very common, don't have the Ubiquinol. They just have the regular CoQ10.
Their results for significant tests having to do with the health of the arteries are poor. People with heart disease who have higher levels of Ubiquinol - when they do these tests, like to see if the genes are healthy, etcetera - they have much better results when they have higher levels of Ubiquinol.
Now, there have been reviews (and this one is from the University of Toronto) where you have somebody with a heart issue, and you give the Ubiquinol. It's easier for them to maintain normal blood pressure. In other words, if their blood pressure is already under control, it just makes it that much easier.
Ubiquinol is an energy supplement. It's very good for physical energy. It's very good for mental energy. It's very good for your hearing, your muscles, your kidneys, your heart, healthy cholesterol and healthy blood pressure. If all of these things are within the right range, it helps you keep them there, and in older people it provides a significant boost in energy. It's one of the supplements I don't leave the house without it. If you run out and you forget to restore it, you will feel the difference within a couple of days.
There have been a number of studies recently showing that when you restore Ubiquinol levels, or when you take Ubiquinol, you ensure heart health – and these are big time studies. I don't want to review too many of them because we're really focusing here more on energy.
Recently, they took elderly people. They put them on the Mediterranean diet, which is once again arguably the best diet in the world. It's full of fresh vegetables, and seeds and nuts and olive oil and a little bit or red wine and a lot of camaraderie and fish. There is very little meat and red meat in particular, and they did well with it.
When they went on the Mediterranean diet, markers of heart health, like their blood tests, their immune function and signs of longevity all improved, simply putting them on the Mediterranean diet. But half the group was also supplemented with the Invite Ubiquinol.
Our Ubiquinol has been used in several studies that have been published in our medical journals. If they took a group of these elderly people and put them on the Mediterranean diet and added Ubiquinol, the results were substantially better. It improved signs of heart health substantially, balanced immune function and longevity, and was just everything you want to see in an older person. Everything was coming back online.
When they took 53 healthy men and they gave them the Invite Ubiquinol, it helped balanced their cholesterol within two weeks. There were shifts in the cholesterol where the small dense LDL actually improved by 14%. There you go; Invite Ubiquinol, the studies are out there and they're published.
A very interesting study from Sweden came out. They took a very large group of elderly people, almost 450 people from 70's to their 90's. They put them on CoQ10, which restores Ubiquinol levels and selenium. If they restored their Ubiquinol, their heart was absolutely much healthier, and it was behaving much more normally.
I could go on and on. For instance, older people tend to develop dry mouth. When they gave older people our Ubiquinol, they started create saliva again. Now that's really important.
Saliva helps digest your food. It starts the process of breaking down food along with chewing. You actually create a sort of liquid called chime, and the saliva also has things like peroxisomes that cleans your food of bacteria and viruses. It's very important to have saliva. People who lack saliva tend to develop gum disease, which is not good. They tend to get loose teeth and lose their teeth too.
Saliva helps to wash your gums, your teeth, and your food and sanitize it, so when they gave older people Ubiquinol, it helped restore their ability to create saliva. Makes sense.
Ubiquinol is a spark, and I've said it before. It's like if you had a barbecue and you had the charcoal and the lighter fluid, or you had a barbecue and you had all the propane. If you don't have a spark, you're not cooking your food on the grill. Ubiquinol gives the spark to burn the calories from food. Without Ubiquinol, it's not happening; you do not have the ability to create energy without Ubiquinol. The problem is that it drops with age in all of us; there's no doubt about it. I mean if you see the stats, you’ll see it can drop almost 80% in the heart muscle, it can drop in the skin by 50% on and on and on from different tissues and organs.
When you give older people Ubiquinol, you start to restore energy. you offset fatigue. Fatigue in the elderly leads to frailty. The frailty contributes to the diseases that occur in aging because they can't maintain their body and cleanse their body and heal their body and to fight for their body with their immune system.
When you take Ubiquinol, it gives you the energy for all these things - for everything the body needs to do, you need Ubiquinol. Not only does it drop with age but by the time you're in your 40's, there are actual clinical aspects to it, where it can affect different tissues and organs and your health and your energy in general. This can also occur in anyone who has liver disease, kidney disease or diabetes. It's hard for them to create energy, and they need Ubiquinol.
When you give them Ubiquinol, it restores energy production which can contribute to reaching or maintaining or protecting good health and good energy.
A lot of drugs take Ubiquinol out of the body. It's not just aging, it's not just disease; a lot of drugs like Tylenol lowers your Ubiquinol levels. Statin drugs like Lipitor or Atorvastatin are notorious for doing it as well. That's one reason why they contribute to muscle aches in some people, or fatigue in others. Drugs for depression, drugs for diabetes in the sulfonylurea class like Glipizide and Glyburide, drugs to lower your triglycerides like Fenofibrate; all of these things lower your Ubiquinol level.
Believe it or not, drugs for high-blood pressure, like the ace inhibiting drugs like Lisinopril and Prednisone or other drugs like Benicar and Diovan, the drugs that affect the nervous system for high-blood pressure like Hydralazine, Cataprils or diuretics like Hydrochlorothiazide can lower your Ubiquinol. If you're prescribed a drug and it's helping you, great. If you find yourself over the course of a month or two starting to become more fatigued, it could possibly be that the drug you're on is lowering your Ubiquinol levels, and if you take the supplement, it can counter-balance that effect.
The other thing with Ubiquinol is that it's great for age associated hearing loss or what we call Presbycusis. When they took elderly people and they gave them Ubiquinol, their age associated hearing loss improved. In other words, when they did these speech audiometry tests, they could hear better at different thresholds like a thousand Hertz and 8,000 Hertz, and 4,000 Hertz. It’s very interesting stuff. There are lots of studies like this, by the way.
I'm going to read you a couple of the testimonials because I think it's going to mean something. I told you a lot of drugs take Ubiquinol out of body.
